About Lee-Antoine-Gasper Family
Interest in our Louisiana Family History has always been the missing link to connecting our families accross cultures and generations. Forturantly for our African American Ancestry, we celebrated our First Family Reuion in 2010. Over 200 family members attended a full weekend of activites starting with a Friday Nite "Meet and Greet" at the Westbank Clarion Hotel. The evening was filled with excitement and entertainment starting with family introductions, a fashion show and dancing, The Saturday Picnic at Bayou Segnette was filled with comradery, great food and much sharing of stories, love and talent. The weekend endeded with Church Sevice at the Church of New Orleans. Honorees at the "Meet and Greet" were two of the the oldest living relatives: Leona Howard Taylor age 82, and Murphy Antoine, age 78. Piecing the Family History Tree together was a challenge. This was obtained through oral histories and research through records at Ancestry.com, parish records, grave yards, etc.

Family History was scattered. however we were able to trace family roots from the WestBank of Jefferson Parish in 1830. This history started in Louisiana with the union of Michael and Charlotte Lee and their nine children-Paul,Lucy,Mary,Charlotte,Betsy,Magdeleine,Clamar,Cecile, and Michael.

Our Family History documents seven generations, consisting of over 600 family members. It was so touching and beautiful to witness the extensions of the genreations and everyone wearing various versions of the Family Reunion T-Shirts.

The 2110 Family Reunion was a smashing success! Thanks to the hard work of the Steering committee members: Michelle Edmond, Kenneth Howard, Marion Wood and Paula Pete. For additional information about the 2014 Reunion, check the Lee-Antione-Gasper Facebook page or contact: Paula Pete, Historian 504 722-9497 or paulaapete@hotmail.com.

2014 Family Reunion: info coming soon!
